Machine
embroidery needs a good quality stabilizer, the right backing
has a big impact on how your embroidery will turn out. The
backing is used to stabilize the design. The right backing
will see that the stitches are formed evenly giving them
a sharp finish.
Many times people have sent me projects they have done that
did not work out quite how they had wanted, on many of these
occasions they have used the wrong backing.
This
product is used for woven fabrics (no stretch), used for
items such as shirts, dresses, hats and the backing of towels.
It tears easily from the embroidered design, for quick clean
up.
The type of fabric you use determines which weight you use.

It
is important to remember when purchasing your Tearaway's
that you buy quality.
There
are many Tearaway's on the market that are made to a price
not a standard. Cheap Tearaway's with diagonal stretch will
give designs a cheap finish look. These Tearaway's are best
used as tracing paper as that is what they are best used
for. All Tearaway's sold through this site are woven.
Remember perfect results can be achieved by anyone when
using quality accessories.

Professional
badge fabric is a high quality material which is ready
fused to a stiff woven backing and is designed to make
it easy to use it for patches. You only need one layer
of this fabric to make a patch. It is economical when
doing many patches and has lots of advantages over other
methods.Firstly it is ready to use just iron on when
finished,second it improves embroidery appearance,particular
with small fine lettering. It comes it a whole range
of colours. No need to purchase many other products to
make a patch. You need good foundations for making a
patch. If you are doing allot of them the same the colour
and fabric consistency is the same.Sometimes when doing
home made patches they can be bulking and the garment
puckers out,too thick ect The product works very well
in Home machines and l know of many home embroiderers
who just make patches all day long with this product. Most
industrial embroiderers use it in badge overlockers(Merrow)
or merrowing is what we refer to it.
Now you can hoop this product for making your Badges
but using Hydrostick with it is the way to go. The Hydrostick
will allow you to embroider all irregular shaped articles
and eilminates the need to hoop it. It is a strong stuff
and l found that Filmoplastic (Sticky Papper) is not
strong enough to hold it.It has a iron on
type of backing as it is ready fused at the back .The
hydro-stick works very fast and gives a very strong
hold. Cut out your hydrostick bigger than your frame.Hoop
just the hydro-stick.Cut out a square peice of Prefused
professional
backing, or the shape of badge you intend to do.Make
it slightly larger so you can do your boarder.Activate
the adhensive of Hydro-stick with a damp spondge.Postion
you Prefused Badge material on the top of the hydrostick
and lightly push down for a few minites till hydrostick
has it held down firmly.Put you Hoop back in your machine
and embroider your Badge/patch.Do you boarder first. Most
machines have frames and boarders already in them.If
not use a floppy or a card .By using the frames in your
machine it saves you from having to cut out the shape. You
can use oval, circles, triangles or digitize your own.You
can do your boarder twice to make it araised more.,plus
it will be more stronger and durable. When finished simply
cut as close around the boarder as you can to finish
it off.You will find once you cut around prefused Badge
material around the boarder that any bits left just
pull off so all you are left with is just your sewn
boarder and patch. To remove your hydro-stick if you
do it straight away when finished, just score the back
using a sharpe knife and tear it away. Then all you have
to do is iron your patch on or give them to your customer
to iron on.You can lightly stitch them on at the back
off the material.Just like ordinary patches and Badges
you will find that they come off sooner or later in
the wash. Also not everyone can iron straight, ask me
how l know.LOL

FilmOPlastic
- sticky stabiliser
|
For
those really tricky embroidery jobs which are hard to
frame - Filmoplastic makes it easy.Use
it for pockets, ties, napkins, caps or items that need
to be embroidered close to the edge and can not be held
in a normal hoop.
I f you use flimoplastic which is what the industrial
embroiderers use
you will not have a problem. There are a few sticky backs
out most of
the domestic ones are no good in my view.We have an
Australian
company here that makes one and it is the worst l have
ever used.The
flimoplastic is in a world of its own. When using flimoplastic
(sticky
Back) it is not necessary to replace the entire piece
after each
design.Simple place a small patch on the underside of
the hoop to
patch the hole made by the previous design. Also by placing
any sticky
back stabilizer into a hoop prior to removing the grid
protective
film, you will avoid getting sticky residue on the hoop
frame
Thick Towels
For thick towels it is best not to hoop
them.Choose the smallest size hoop that will accommodate
the design
you are embroidering.By using flimoplastic (Sticky back)
it will stop
the hoop popping out on a thick towel or your screw
being
striped. With flimoplastic you can use hoopless embroidery. This
allows
you to adhere and secure towels without having to hoop
them.
Irregular shaped items can be embroidered on the same
way and no hoop
burn.Just hoop you stabilizer and stick your towel down.If
using
flimoplastic just cut out the shape and peel back the
sticky back.If
you print out your design template you can trace it
on the
flimoplastic .Then slice around design template with
Sharpe knife and
peel the flimoplastic back. This way you only use what
you need of the
flimoplastic and do not waste it .You can then patch
your hole in the
flimoplastic with another piece and you are ready to
go again.You can
add another piece of tearaway under your hoop to stop
any sticky
building up on your needles.It
has grid lines on the back to help use as a guide. I
suggest if you have not used this product before or
are unsure please contact me for a free "RACHEL'S
FACT SHEET".
Remember it is only really for jobs that are hard to
frame.

that's where Hydro-stick non-toxic is helpful.Use it on

need to be embroidered close to the edge and cannot be held
in a normal embroidery hoop. Hydro stick allows you to adhere
and secure articles without having to hoop them.Embroider
irregular-shaped items
can be embroidered on and no hoop burn.Simply activate the
adhensive surface with a damp sponge, place the fabric on
the adhensive surface and embroider as usual. You can re-moisten
and re-use remaining workable sized pieces several times.Have
found it works good on very thick fabrics that you cannot
hoop in a domestic machine, just don't wet the back of the
adhesive too much.

| WET
& SET ADHESIVE TEAR-AWAY |
Wet and Set was developed for
embroidery applications that have been too difficult
with tradional hooping. Now you can embroider irregular
shaped articles, slippery fabrics and eliminate hoop
burns. Wet and Set allows you to adhere and secure articles
without having to hoop them. Great on velvets, napped
materials, silks, knits, vinyl, leather and any material
requiring a better hold.
HOOP APPLICATION:
1.Cut wet and set larger than
the size of the hoop to be used,
then hoop the backing only. (Adhesive side up)
2. Activate the adhesive surface
with water by a damp sponge, rag, or foam paintbrush.
3.Lightly trace where you want
the article to adhere.
Be sure that the surface is evenly moistened.
4.Position article on tacky surface,
flattening out
all wrinkles with a slightly firm touch. Try to adhere
as much of the surface as possible.
5.Insert into machine, making
sure area to be embroidered
is free of wrinkles and loose fabric. If repositioning
is required,
lift and remoisten the surface.
6.Embroider the item. When finished
simply tear away (or cut away) the backing
as you normally would, keeping in mind that there may
be some resistance from the adhesive.
HOOPLESS APPLICATION:
1.Please select a hoopless frame
and size that will allow the item to slide
under the arm of the machine.
2.After choosing the proper size
window, the wet and set must
be cut to that size making sure that it does not extend
past the edges of the window.
3.Activate the adhesive surface
with water by using a light spray
mist from a water bottle or a damp sponge. Be sure that
the surface is evenly moistened.
4.Adhere the backing to the backside
of the window.
Insert frame on to the machine. For the initial loading
of the garment
place the pantograph far enough back so that the entire
length of the
frame is resting on the arm of the machine.
5.Load article by sliding on
to the frame and firmly
adhering to the tacky surface. Please note that the
clearance under the arm for the article to move freely
may be tight depending on the size of the embroidery
field and the window frame that is being used.
6.Allow several seconds for the
adhesive to set, and then embroider the item.
7.When finished, remove the frame
from the machine and carefully
tear away the backing from the garment as well as the
frame.
Any residue remaining on the frame can be removed with
a simple
wiping from a damp rag or sponge.
wet and set is a completely safe
product
with no harmful chemicals. It is completely water soluble
for fast easy clean up and won't 'gum' up needles or
contaminate
any moving parts on the machine.
Two major points
# 1
You do not need a lot of water initially
A damp sponge, rag, foam brush
or stamp roller moistener will do
Remember that it is a remoistenable
adhesive and that water activates it.
If you turn it over to the glue
line where it touches the fabric
and remoisten right there it
will reactivate and release.
It
was specifically developed for left chest "logo"
applications to eliminate the backing "shadow"
- or the show through on a light shirt of the regular
non woven cutaway.
It is SOFT and sheer - almost
invisible!
Available in the following colors:
White, Beige, Flesh or Black
Also available in a "fusible"
iron on version in all 3 colors
#1 To eliminate the use of adhesive
sprays -
Use your silk iron setting so as not to scorch or shrink
your fabric
#2 To cover the back of scratchy
stitches-
There is nothing more soft , stable or sheer - Its invisible.
No
Show Nylon Mesh is 100% nylon. It has an adhensive backing
that is activated by low-tem iron, for strong and secure
hold.It is great for high stitch count designs and is
very soft against the skin. The stabilizer can also be
ironed onto an embroidered piece so metallic threads
wont stretch your skin.
Knits can be very
stretchy and there is a simple way even a newie can
do very easy.
When doing t-shirts l always use the embroidery method
of hoopless
embroidery. This technique is where you just hoop the
stabilizer
fusible nylon mesh adhesive side up. You then place
hoop inside t-
shirt, pin the back up,the front is placed on top of
the adhesive stabilizer, which is secured by ironing
your t-shirt on.
This iron on technique is perfect for stretch fabrics
and a hoop
iron is just small enough to fit inside the hoop to
temporary hold
your t-shirt fabric on.Your hoop iron will fit in a
4x4 hoop.
A hoop iron can also be used inside your hoop to fuse
applique
material onto the hooped base fabric. It is fantastic
for any kind of
applique and machine piecing and so compact you can
keep it right
beside your machine.I know many of my embroidery friends
use the
stitch and trim applique l have taught in classes this
is the mini
iron you may have seen with me.Again to help with the
multiple
applique pieces hoop a piece of fusible no show nylon
mesh
place, mark in the design placement using water soluble
pen,place
fabric on top, place hoop iron inside frame and lightly
iron inside
the hoop perimeter, adhering the fabric onto the fusible
nylon
mesh.Use your large hoop and embroidery several of the
designs in
the one hooping.cut out the embroidered designs on the
stitching
line for exact applique shape.Cutwork done in the hoop
and quilting
as you go is very easy with this method even with fleece.Once
you
hoop your nylon mesh stabilizer do not pull on it.Pulling
on the
stabilizer once it is hooped up will result in puckers
around the
design once the stabilizer is removed from the hoop.Right
now l am
working on a quilting where the whole thing is done
using hoopless
embroidery.Sure is making my life so easy.
