Needles
are available in many types and different sizes.
When doing embroidery, needles should be changed often,
every 20 hours. Basically there are Sharps, Wedge Points,
Ball Points & Metallics. The lower the number, the smaller
and finer the needle.
Most
of the time I mainly use 8,10 and 12. All depends what you
are embroidering on. The finer the fabric, such as jersey
knits, the smaller the needle.
Wedge
points are for leather or vinyl. These needles are for fabrics
which are not woven as they make a small slit rather than
hole. The wrong needle on leather would cut the design out.LOL........
Embroidery Needles are sharp with an elongated eye, they
are designed for embroidery. The Microtex sharp needles
made by Schmetz work very well for embroidery on silk and
linen and polos as you won't put little holes in the material
around
where the embroidery is.
The
denim needle and heavy woven fabrics need a larger needle
to allow them to penetrate heavy fabrics.
The
Ball Point needles are great for knits.
The
Schmetz Metallic needles are the best to use with metallic
threads the large eye and small point reduces fabric needle
damages. They also help with thread breakage and snagging.We
